Writing Prompt 34

Dialog was always a weak point for me.

In school, I used to get feedback from writing instructors telling me how great all of my descriptions were, but simultaneously point out that my characters never said anything. It’s hard to relate to someone you never talk to, so I had to start getting to know my characters. I had to let them tell me their story, so I could tell my readers. They had to speak, and I had to listen.

So, today our prompt is meant to start a conversation.

Who is saying this and why? Who are they talking to? Are they angry? Amused?

Let your characters talk to each other and see what happens. Maybe you’ll uncover an entirely new plot point!

Love,

Junebug
